Odisha Govt Launches Unified Single Number “112” for All Emergency Services

Bhubaneswar: No need to search number for police assistance as in a major paradigm shift, the Odisha Government today launched a single emergency helpline number ‘112’ to provide all kind of assistances by the police to the public.

With this, people in the state will no more need to dial different numbers like 100, 101, 102, 104, 108, 181 and 1098 for emergency services of police, ambulance, fire brigade and women helpline. Single helpline number ‘112’, which will function soon which will provide all the emergency assistances by the police department.

Besides, in a bid to provide fast services to the people, the Government also approved creation of 1098 posts in police department. Four DSPs, 151 Sub-Inspectors, 203 Assistant Sub-Inspectors and 740 Constables will provide the 112 emergency services.
Besides , 198 Call Taker Executives will be outsourced and 236 vehicles will be deployed for the purpose, stated a release.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, the unified emergency helpline will help police provide better services more efficiently to the general public and strengthen people’s faith in the system.
