Odisha Govt to Give Incentive to Informers about Illegal Sex Determination

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to give incentive to those providing information about fetus’ sex determination.

As per the Odisha Informer Incentive Scheme, the informer about the illegal sex determination would be incentivized with a cash award of Rs 25000 in three installments, according to the State Health and Family Welfare Department.

The first installment of Rs. 10,000 will be given after sharing confirmed information, second installment of Rs 10,000 on filing of the Prosecution Report, if the court has taken cognizance and framed charges against the accused person/s, and the third installment of Rs. 5,000 on finalization of the court case and conviction of the accused, as per the guidelines.

The step aims at improving male-female sex ratio in the State and safeguarding the ‘right to life’ of the female fetus.
