Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable step, the Odisha Government has announced to set up promotion courts to expedite promotion process of its employees.
The Promotion Courts will be formed under the Chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretaries of respective departments, stated a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.
The promotion courts will meet in the fourth week of January every year to resolve the issues related to promotion of the State Government employees.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked the officials to ensure completion of the process for promotion of the employees across categories by December 31 every year.
As per the direction, as many as 3,166 government employees were promoted by December 31, 2019.
The government employees, who have not been promoted within this period, can put for their issues before promotion courts, the release said.
It is noted that the government employees often knock the doors of courts to get their issues related to promotion resolved, but it takes a lot of time. With the establishment of promotion courts, the employees will get justice at the earliest.
