Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Wednesday warned of strong action against hoarders and black marketers amid the prevailing flood-like situation in the State.
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak has ordered for the formation of special squads to check hoarding and black marketing of essential commodities in the flood-affected districts, according to reports.
Some traders and shopkeepers generally indulge in hoarding and black marketing of vegetables and essential commodities during natural calamities like flood and cyclone in different parts of the state leading to artificial scarcity of essential commodities in the market, They sell the vegetables and essential goods at high prices.
The Food Supplies Department has urged the officials to prevent such illegal practices amid the prevailing flood situation in the state, reports added.
