Bhubaneswar: Odisha has taken a leap in food production under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, said Agricutlure & FE Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain here on Wednesday.
Attending the ‘Workshop on Systems Approach to Agriculture & Pathways for Action’ as Chief Guest, Swain emphasized on use of technology among farmers which will further strengthen their income and convergence of line departments will enhance agri-economy in Odisha.
In his address, Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said that convergent approach including all directorates is the key for rise in agricultural production.
He advised to work with communities utilizing less natural resources and have concurrent monitoring and evaluation in agriculture sector.
Principal Secretary of Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Arabinda K Padhee in his keynote address said that systems approach in agriculture has three pillars – Production, Distribution, & Consumption.
The Department is executing all its policies in a Systems Approach with support of technology, information and views of stakeholders, he added.
The Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment in association with FES is holding the workshop to provide insights on sustainable agriculture practices to tackle resource degradation, implement inclusive governance mechanisms, rethink extension systems and capacity building of functionaries using technologies.
