Bhubaneswar: In a significant step in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Odisha Government today announced 14-day lockdown in the whole state. The lockdown will be in force from 5th May to 19th May. The decision comes at a time when the state is reporting a higher number of infections. The government has allowed people to freely move by walking within 500 meters of their homes for purchasing essentials and vegetables between 6 am to 12 noon during the lockdown. Other essential services will be available as usual. The weekend shutdown imposed in the urban areas of the state will also continue till further orders.
During the lockdown time, vaccination will continue and eligible people can freely go to the vaccination centers. People can also go for Covid-19 testing during the lockdown time. According to the order issued today, all educational institutions, cinema halls, market complexes and gymnasiums will be closed during the lockdown period. Also, the sports complexes, swimming pools and parks will remain closed during the lockdown time.
