Bhubaneswar: Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his zero tolerance policy towards corruption, Odisha has been ranked as one of the least corrupt states in India, according to a latest survey.
As per the India Corruption Survey 2019 conducted by LocalCircles in collaboration with Transparency International India, Odisha is among the least corrupt states in the country.
The survey is a reflection of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s transparency governance.
In pursuance of its zero tolerance policy towards corruption, the Naveen-led Odisha Government has taken the stringent action against the corrupt officers.
In the past two months, as many as 44 employees were dismissed, the pension of 11 employees stopped permanently and ten were given compulsory retirement on the ground of corruption by the Chief Minister, as per reports.
The Chief Minister’s 5T and Mo Sarkar initiatives are further proving instrumental in maintaining transparency in the governance.
Besides Odisha, other least corrupt states in India are Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala and Goa, as per the survey, which was carried out in 21 states covering 81,0000 respondents.
The states have been categorized as most and least ‘corrupt’ based on 1.90 lakh responses received from 85,000 people.
Rajasthan has been categorized the most corrupt in the country, closely followed by Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, the survey said.
