Odisha Likely to Witness Heavy Rainfall from September 29

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to witness heavy rainfall across the State from September 29 due to the likely formation of a cyclonic circulation over the north Andaman Sea and its neighbourhood, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea and the adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move west-northwestwards with the possibility of gradual intensification, the IMD said in its bulletin.

Below is the IMD’s weather alert for the next five day:

Day 1: (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 27.09.2023) Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur in a few places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Nuapada.

Day 2: (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.09.2023) Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Gajapati, and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Day 3: (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 29.09.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and at one or two places over the rest of districts of Odisha.

Day 4: (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 30.09.2023)
Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur in one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Malkangiri, and Koraput.

Day 5: (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.10.2023)
Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Sonepur, and Bolangir.

Thunderstorms with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, and Kandhamal.
