Bhubaneswar: The male passengers will be penalized if they are found sitting on women’s seats while travelling in a bus in Odisha.
A decision in this regard was taken a meeting between top officials of Commissionerate Police, Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), representatives of five local Bus Owners’ Associations, SPOs at Police Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Besides, a toll-free number will soon be issued for women passengers to deal with any untoward incidents and safety while travelling in bus. The women passengers can call or send message on the number in case they face harassment while on board.
These steps have been taken in order to improve discipline at onboard buses and safety of women passengers, an official said.
A notification to this effect will be issued soon, sources said.
