Mumbai: The social service wing of ruling Biju Janata Dal once again came to the rescue of a needy in Mumbai hospital and airport to bring back a cancer patient’s body to home state Odisha. According to sources, a 51 year old Cervical Cancer patient named Kasturi Mishra, a resident of Kansbahal in Sundargarh District had been to the Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai for treatment. While returning to Odisha following treatment, she collapsed at the Mumbai Airport and was taken to the Holy Spirit Hospital, Andheri but she breathed her last on the way to the hospital itself.
The victim’s family however were not allowed to board the flight without proper NOC and Death Certificate. The matter was then referred to Odisha-Mo Paribar by Sunita Biswal, a social worker. She subsequently had a talk with the Convener of Odisha-Mo Parivar Arup Patnaik.
Patnaik then instructed Rakesh Sharma, Ex Addl SP, Mumbai and Gaurav Mane from Konark Cancer Foundation, Mumbai, to look into the matter and do the needful. After studying the case history of the deceased, the hospital then forwarded the matter to the Tata Memorial Hospital and after all the required verifications, a death certificate was issued to the family.
The representatives of Konark Cancer Foundation, Mumbai then facilitated the certification procedure with Mumbai Police and after all the documentation work the body returned to Bhubaneswar Airport today.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and mentor of Odisha – Mo Parivar instructed the officials to take the dead body to her native place Usra, Kansbahal of Sundergarh district by an ambulance from Bhubaneswar Airport.
