Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has restricted all bars under its jurisdiction from hiring bouncers.
The decision was taken in view crime records of many such security personnel in the recent past.
“Various criminal cases have been lodged against many bouncers in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in the recent past. Such people pose a threat to the lives of customers visiting the bars and can hamper peace in society,” according to an official release issued by the Information and Public Relation (I&PR) Department.
The bar owners have been directed o mandatorily verify the background of their security guards from their respective local DCPs.
“Bar owners can hire security guards from registered private agencies and share their personal details with the local police. They can also do the same by dialling 112,” the release stated.
This order came into effect on March 11 and will remain in force for 60 days, till May 9 unless withdrawn earlier.
