Bhubaneswar: Fine of more than Rs 186 crore has been collected from the violators of traffic rules in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in the last three years.
Informing about it in the Assembly, Minister of State (MoS) Home Tusharkanti Behera that the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack twin cities have collected of Rs 186,04,55,440 from 18,52,394 persons in three years (i.e 2020, 2021 and 2022) for violating traffic rules.
The penalty amount was collected from flouters of traffic rules such as driving two-wheeler without wearing helmet, driving while talking on mobile phone, driving without seat belt, driving on wrong route and driving in an inebriated condition etcetera, the Minister said.
During the same period, Rs 85,06,72,700 has been collected from 8,66,464 persons for driving without helmet, Rs 6,65,12,800 from 14,875 persons for driving while talking on mobile phone, Rs 1,81,91,100 from 19,643 persons for driving without seat belt, Rs 86,69,100 from 18,725 persons for driving on wrong route, Rs 28,08,000 from 5,628 persons for driving in inebriated condition and Rs 91,26,01,740 from 9,27,059 persons for other traffic violations, he told the Assembly.
