Bhubaneswar: Odisha has been placed among top 10 states in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2020-21 for States & UTs by the Ministry of Education.
“Odisha has made significant improvements in PGI 2020-21 and has emerged as one of the top 10 ranked states by securing 877 points out of 1000. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister, the state has improved its score in all 5 performance indicators.
Odisha has secured 838 points for the 2019-20 academic year against 749 points in 2018-19”, the School and Mass Education Department said.
Introduction of OAVS and Mo School, digital learning initiatives at the time of COVID pandemic, state-of-the-art infrastructure under 5T High School Transformation Programme and prioritization in areas of interventions have ushered in a visible transformation, thereby making it shine at the national platform, it added.
With effective implementation of policies and initiatives, Odisha has jumped to Rank 10 in 2020-21 from Rank 14 in 2019-20.
The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education has released the PGI for States/UTs for 2020-21, a unique index for evidence based comprehensive analysis of school education system across State/UTs.
The prime objective of PGI is to promote evidence-based policy making and highlight course correction to ensure quality education for all. So far, DoSE&L has released PGI report for the year 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20. The present report is for the year 2020-21.
