Odisha Police Forms Squads to Prevent Hoarding and Black Marketing of COVID-19 Medicines

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police today formed flying squads to prevent hoarding and black marketing of COVID-19 medicines and medicinal supplies.

As many as 22 squads including 7 squads in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have been formed for energizing enforcement to prevent hoarding and black marketing of Covid medicines in the State.

The squads comprises Drug Inspectors, officials of Crime Branch, Special Task Force and local police.

A meeting was held here on Monday under the chairmanship of Y K Jethwa, ADG CID CB with Drug Controller, Commissionerate Police, DIG Special Task Force and officials of Crime Branch.

According to the State Police, verification drive is already underway. Verification of records and stocks covering the entire supply chain has been initiated. Sharp vigil and surveillance launched and intelligence network intensified.

Strong action under criminal laws will be taken against anyone indulging in hoarding, black marketing or any illegal acts, the police said.
