Odisha: Retired Amin Sentenced to 3 Years RI in Bribery Case 

Bhubaneswar: A retired Amin in Bhubaneswar has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case

Dhurba Charan Bhoi, Ex-Amin (Retired) at the office of Assistant Settlement Officer, Rental Colony, Bhubaneswar, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar in a bribery case and was sentenced to undergo RI for 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000. In default of payment of fine, the former Amin will have to undergo RI for 3 months more for the offence.

The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months more for the offence U/s 7 PC Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.

Earlier, Bhoi was chargesheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar TR No.01/2014 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act, 1988 for demanding and accepting bribe Rs.7,000 from a complainant in order to submit report for recording of the land in her name.

In a press statement, the Odisha Vigilance said that it will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Bhoi following his conviction.
