Bhubaneswar: The Sindhekela police station inspector-in-charge (IIC) has been placed under suspension in a bribery case.
Alok Kumar Behera, IIC, Sindhekela P.S. of Bolangir district has been suspended following his arrest in connection with a Vigilance case registered at Sambalpur Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the PC Act.
“Behera has been placed under suspension with effect from the date of his arrest (December 5) in connection with a Vigilance case registered at Sambalpur Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the PC Act. During the period of suspension, he will remain under the disciplinary control of Balangir SP. He will draw the SA and DA as admissible under Rule 90 of Orissa Service Code,” as per an office order issued by the Director General of Police.
Behera was arrested on Sunday by Vigilance officials on charges of accepting Rs 25,000 bribe from an accused to show him leniency in a case, as per reports.
