Odisha SOG Commandos Awarded ‘Shaurya Chakra’ Posthumously

Bhubaneswar: Two Special Operation Group (SOG) Commandos from Odisha were awarded the ‘Shaurya Chakra’ (posthumously) by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2022 at New Delhi on Tuesday.

SOG Commandos of Odisha Police Sudhir Kumar Tudu and Debashish Sethy were posthumously awarded India’s third highest gallantry medal by President Ram Nath Kovind.

They were conferred with the Shaurya Chakra posthumously for their exceptional bravery, valour, courage and sacrifice during the anti-Maoist operation in Kalahandi.

The awards were received by the martyred jawans’ parents.

Sethy and Tudu were martyred in action during an anti-Maoist operation that led to the elimination of five suspected Maoists in the Kalahandi district in September last year.
