Bhubaneswar: As per the revised annual calendar approved by the Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, Govt. of Odisha, the Special Handloom Expo-2022 is being organized by Sambalpuri Bastralaya on the occasion of Handloom Special
under POHI-2022-23 funds to boost up the sales and provide regular employment to the weaver members of the PWCS/SHGs. The Special Expo is being inaugurated by Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, Govt. of Odisha today. In the inaugural function Shovan Krishna Sahoo, Director of Textiles & Handlooms, Odisha, Saroj Patel, Special Secretary, HT&H Department, and Sisir Kumar Nag, Managing Director, Sambalpuri Bastralaya, Bargarh & Sambit Acharya, President, Sambalpuri Bastralaya were present.
The Special Expo will continue upto 14.12.2022. Here 34 stalls have been erected in which Exclusive Women SHG/PWCS of Baragrh, Cuttack, Sonepur, Athagarh, Baripada, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Koraput and Boudh Zone including Sambalpuri Bastralaya for showcasing and sale of their products. The stall are allotted to the participants free of cost. In this Ekambra Haat from dt.02.10.2021 to 25.11.2022 there are 571nos of weavers/ organization and 876 nos of handicrafts artisans were participated in the fair being organized by the Handlooms, Textiles and Handicraft Department, Govt. of Odisha and able to achieve sales of Rs.793.56lakh and Rs. 633.32lakh respectively total of which comes to Rs.1426.88 lakh. Besides, the food stalls have also transacted sales of Rs.275.43lakh. During this period there was a foot fall of 2.17 lakh noticed during the mela. This is a common platform where customers will get handloom products of all over the state in a reasonable price with 10%+20% Govt. rebate.
