Odisha Starts “Chess in School” Initiative to Improve Concentration and Memory of Students

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has started ‘Chess in School’ initiative to improve concentration, memory and self-reflection of students.

The Department of Sports and Youth Services has started the initiative in collaboration with the School & Mass Education Department and All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA).

Besides promoting chess at the grassroots level, the initiative intends to improve students’ concentration, memory and self-reflection.
The “Chess in School” initiative will cover around 40 government and private schools in Bhubaneswar in the first phase.

After the orientation, respective schools will conduct intra-school competitions and winners will represent Bhubaneswar Open Chess tournament (U-9 and U-15) categories, the Sports Department said.
