Odisha: Strict Implementation of Weekend Shutdown In Eleven Districts Begins

Bhubaneswar: The two day shutdown declared by the government in eleven districts of the state has begun with most people adhering to and remaining indoors. The shutdown which began in Saturday morning will be implemented till Monday morning. While all essential services have been allowed to operate, police has made barricades in most of the urban areas in these districts to enforce the lockdown.

The weekend shutdown is being implemented in Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Balangir districts as a huge number of migrants are returning to these districts from other states. People suo moto responded to the shutdown.

The government has exempted all essential and emergency services in these districts. Public can make specific requests to police using the Dial -100 service for passes if they want movement during the lockdown. There will not be any restrictions on inter-State and intra-State movement of persons and goods. Intra-State buses, taxis, auto rickshaws and other passenger vehicles are allowed to operate with their sitting capacity.
