Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, Odisha Health Secretary Nikunja Dhala said that the suspected COVID-19 patient will be treated in specially dedicated COVID-19 hospitals only.
He added that even in dedicated Covid hospital utmost care is being taken for containment of the deadly virus. Separate entry and exit points have been created for corona patients or suspects in addition to keeping a dedicated staff who work in proximity to them.
Throwing light on the measures being taken for the protection of the health professional, Dhala said healthcare professionals and staff have been provided with necessary protective gear and will not be posted at any other department as of now.
He further said that the Government is taking all measures possible for the protection of healthcare professionals and effective healthcare services to the denizens.
Dhala informed that currently there are no positive or suspected coronavirus cases admitted in SCB Medical College and Hospital and City Hospital of Cuttack and hence are absolutely safe for other patients who need medical care of any kind.
Only one patient has been admitted in Bhubaneswar’s Capital Hospital whose first sample has already come negative and would be released once the second test also comes negative.
“Not a single positive or suspected COVID-19 case has been admitted to any of the District Headquarter Hospitals or any of the medical colleges all over the State. Hence, these are absolutely safe for other patients to refer to,” he said.
Meanwhile, in the press briefing, Director of Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET) in Odisha Prof (Dr) CBK Mohanty said, “We have used the experience gained from other countries who have been battling with the deadly coronavirus and implemented the lessons learnt from them effectively.”
The duo urged anyone with flu-like symptoms to come forward and seek help without any fear. They said that complete recovery from novel coronavirus is an achievable possibility.
