Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Tableau, which showcased women empowerment and the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of crafts village Raghurajpur, has bagged the Best State Tableaux at the 75th Republic Day Parade.
The Odisha Tableau has bagged the prize in the Judges Choice category.
“The depiction of the artistry of Pattachitra of Raghurajpur by women and the income generated has garnered national attention. This is a feat attained by the Govt of Odisha in I & PR Dept under the inspiring leadership of CM Naveen Patnaik”, the I&PR Department said.
The tableaus from Gujarat and Tamil Nadu have been adjudged second and third respectively. Sixteen states and Union territories had presented their tableaus at the parade.
The tableau of Gujarat won the first prize in the people’s choice category.
After a gap of three years, Odisha’s Tableau rolled on the Kartabya Path on the occasion of the Republic Day. The 45-feet-long, 14-feet-wide and 16-feet-high Tableau has received wide appreciation from the public who witnessed it during the Republic Day Parade.
