Bhubaneswar: In the wake of resurgence in COVID cases, the Odisha Government today announced closure of all technical institutions including ITIs, polytechnics, engineering and professional colleges and technical universities from April 19.
The Skill Development and Technical Education Department has issued a notification in this regard.
All Hostels / Residential Accommodations of Technical Educational Institutions shall remain closed w.e.f 19.04.2021 .
Students shall be motivated not to stay in the hostel in the interest of their personal health. However , scholars , researchers and students who desire to stay in hostel for research / project works or other academic activities may be permitted for the same upon giving undertaking and subject to approval by appropriate authorities of the concerned institutions, the notification reads.
The classes and examinations for all courses shall be conducted online, it adds.
The government has urged the college authorities to take all appropriate measures for conducting classes through online mode to complete the syllabus in time.
