Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Forest Department will begin the Tiger Census in the state in the month of October. The important announcement was made today on the occasion of the World Tiger Day. The Census will be carried out in two phases, and it will take about one and half months to complete. The census will be done through Transact analysis and Camera Trap methods. According to the 2018 Tiger Census, Odisha had 28 tigers. The state has two tiger reserves namely Similipal and Satakosia. Similipal Tiger Reserve is the only place in the world which is home to rare melanistic tigers.
