Odisha Train Tragedy: Railways Suspends 7 Employees

Bhubaneswar: The Railways has suspended seven employees including the three arrested staff in connection with the devastating triple train accident near Bahanaga Bazar railway station in Balasore district on June 2.

The employees were suspended on charges of negligence of duty.

South Eastern Railway GM Anil Kumar Mishra stated that the departmental action has been taken against seven employees of the Railway and they have been suspended due to negligence in duties.

The accident could have been avoided if the employees would have been alert at that time, the SER GM said.

Earlier, the CBI had arrested Senior Section Engineer (signal) Arun Kumar Mahanta, Section Engineer Mohammed Amir Khan, and Technician Pappu Kumar. The Court has allowed the CBI to take the trio on remand for five more days.
