Malkangiri: In yet another laurel to Odisha owing to the good governance under Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, tribal dominated Malkangiri district has bagged the SKOCH Award for its achievements in addressing malnutrition and child mortality.
The rate of malnutrition among children was 18.47 %, but it has now slashed to 0.99 % in the district. Similarly, the rate of underweight children was 23.86 %, it has now decreased to 15.03 %.
Moreover, the child and maternal mortality rates have also gone down in the tribal-dominated district.
Malkangiri outclassed 324 districts to bag the prestigious award.
Malkangiri’s Mathili BDO and ICDS Project Officer received the SKOCH Silver Award at a function organised in New Delhi recently.
