Bhubaneswar: Odisha has recorded a whopping 22% rise in vehicle sales in September compared to August this year despite COVID-19 pandemic in the State.
According to the State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha recorded sale of 49,000 vehicles in September. Whereas after lifting of partial lock down, the vehicle sales had remained at 43,000 in June, 40,000 in July and 40,000 in August.
About 4.8 Thousand vehicles have been registered under transport category and about 44 thousand vehicles have been registered under non transport category. Two wheelers constitute the major sales with 36 thousand numbers. 4257 number of cars have been sold during September. The sale of tractors stood at 1569, the STA said.
With festive season of Dushera and Diwali in October and November, the sale is expected to go up further, it added.
