Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance Department sleuths have uncovered huge amounts of Crypto Currency investments by RWSS Department, BBSR Circle, Additional Chief Engineer Nihar Ranjan Das. Yesterday, the vigilance officials had unearthed documents relating to investments made in Crypto currency by Nihar worth Rs 1.75 crore. The Department has also written to the Crypto Agencies regarding the investments by Nihar and requested them to freeze the accounts.
The anti corruption unit has till now uncovered properties worth more than Rs 5 crore in connection with the Addl Chief Engineer which is expected to rise further. A ten member Vigilance team including the Vigilance Director Jashwant Jethwa is said be still interrogating Nihar about his properties and investments.
According to reports, Nihar, who was to retire in just two days, had many complaints against him regarding disproportionate assets. Multiple teams of the Vigilance officials carried out simultaneous house searches. Five DSPs, 12 Inspectors, 1 Sub Inspector, 11 ASIs and other staff conducted searches on the strength of search warrants issued by Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
