Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government’s most ambitious Jaga Mission has been nominated for the prestigious award by the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum for Innovation in Public Policy. Jaga Mission is the World’s Largest Slum Land Settlement Programme by Government of Odisha. Its aim is to transform slums into livable habitat with all urban facilities. According to a tweet by the Housing and Urban Development Department, people can vote online until 30th of this month to choose the winner.
Jaga Mission has been highly appreciated and recognized at national and international forums and has also won the 2019 World Habitat Award given by World Habitat a partner of UN-Habitat. It is among the most innovative, outstanding, and revolutionary ideas being implemented to transform habitat of slum dwellers. Started in 2018, the project is being implemented by the Tata Trust and Norman Foster Foundation and is entitling slum dweller with land titles.
