Bhubaneswar: The magnificent tableau depicting the Rukuna Ratha of Lord Lingaraj has been adjudged as the second best tableau at the 71st Republic Day Celebrations in New Delhi.
Odisha’s Tableau had attracted the eyeballs during the Celebrations and all had appreciated the depiction of the rich cultural heritage of the state.
Prepared by artist Gajendra Sahoo and his team, the tableau has been conferred with the prize on Tuesday by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the Rashtriya Rangashala.
On behalf of the Odisha Government, I&PR Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh has received the award from the Defence Minister at Rastriya Rangashala in New Delhi.
While the tableau from Assam has got the first prize, Uttar Pradesh bagged the third position.
Odisha’s Tableau had contained the replica of the Eleventh Century Lingaraj Temple, Nandi and the Chariot of Rukuna. Odishi Dance performance on the tableau had by artisans was praised byone and all at the 71st Republic Day Celebrations.
