Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to healthcare sector, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has recommended as many as 1205 successful candidates for recruitment to the post of Medical Officer (Assistant Surgeon) in the Health and Family Welfare Department.
“On the basis of the written exam conducted on 20th Feb, 2023, #Odisha Public Service Commission has recommended 1,205 successful candidates for recruitment to the post of Medical Officer (Assistant Surgeon), which is one of the highest numbers recommended at one go”, the Health Department informed.
The list of candidates includes 429 women candidates, 3 under PwD category, 74 under SEBC category, 67 under SC category and 64 under ST category.
In a press note, the Commission said that the Health & Family Welfare Department had submitted a requisition for recruitment against vacancies of 3481 (including 1160 women) Medical Officers (Assistant Surgeon) in Group A (Junior Branch) of Odisha Medical & Health Service Cadre.
The OPSC had received 2582 (including 945 women) online applications and 02 applications were rejected on the ground of self-cancellation.
As many as 2281 including 843 women candidates appeared in the written examination. A total of 1489 candidates provisionally qualified to attend the document verification, however, 1436 (including 532 women) candidates attended the document verification.
Finally, the OPSC recommended the names of 1205 successful candidates which includes 429 women candidates for recruitment of Medical Officer (Assistant Surgeon).
