Over 2.14 Lakh Voters To Vote In Brajrajnagar By-polls Today

Brajrajnagar: The stage is all set for the by-polls for the Brajrajnagar Constituency in Jharsuguda District today. More than 2.14 lakh voters will exercise their franchise to elect their new people’s representative. The preparations for the elections are over and all the polling parties have reached the booths. Strict security arrangements have been made in all the voting centers and CCTVs have also been installed in sensitive places. While 279 booths have been set up, 60 have been identified as sensitive. Authorities have also made arrangements for webcasting in 50 per cent of the booths. The district administration has deployed about 1000 police personnel for smooth conduct of the elections. Three companies of central armed forces have also been deployed at different booths.

The by-polls were nesseciated due to the untimely death MLA Kishore Mohanty. While the Biju Janata Dal has fielded Kishore’s wife Alaka Mohanty, the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded former MLA Radharani Panda. The Congress has fielded its senior leader Kishore Chandra Patel.
