Bhubaneswar: With the counting of votes for the three-tier Panchayat polls continuing for the second day today, the Biju Janata Dal’s winning streak continues. In the counting held till 12 noon today, the ruling Biju Janata Dal is leading in 411 seats whereas the BJP and Congress are ahead in 41 and 19 seats respectively. Independents and others are ahead in just 5 seats. In winning terms, the BJD has officially won in 268 ZP seats of the 300 declared. The BJP and the Congress Party have won 14 seats each.
In Ganjam, the Biju Janata Dal is ahead in 23 of the 69 Zilla Parishad seats with the BJP and Congress unable to open their account. In Mayurbhanj, the Biju Janata Dal in leading is 24 of the 56 seats. Likewise, the ruling party is way ahead in all other districts.
