Bhubaneswar: The counting of votes for 307 Zilla Parishad seats have begun today in the second day of the three-day counting process. On the first day of the counting, out of the 315 ZP seats, the Biju Janata Dal was leading in 281 seats and the BJP was leading in just 15 seats. The Congress was leading in 14 seats. Latest results received from the counting centers are showing that, the Biju Janata Dal has won 230 seats whereas the BJP and the Congress have won 10 and 12 seats respectively.
The Biju Janata Dal has once again showed that the mandate is with it and in places that are said to be the strongholds of the BJP are no longer so.
The BJD has turned the table in Mayurbhanj where it has secured 24 seats and the BJP is yet to open its account. The same is happening in elsewhere with the ruling party getting more than 87 percent seats in the counting held till now.
