Parliamentary Standing Committee Commends Puri Heritage Corridor Project

Puri: The sixteen member Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism & Culture that visited Puri today has commended the works undertaken by the Government of Odisha under the Heritage Corridor Project. The team under the Chairmanship of T G Venkatesh, today had the darshan of the three deities and inspected the development works being undertaken around the Sri Jagannath Temple.

The Committee members were satisfied with the various initiatives taken under the Parikrama Project and hoped that the transformation will help lakhs of pilgrims coming to have Darshan of Lord Jagannath. One of the members of the Committee Ramdas Tadas opined that the development works are necessary at Puri. He said as all major pilgrim places including Tirupati, Shiridi and Vaishnodevi have been developed, Puri should also be developed. The members also opined that more developmental works are needed and they will recommend the Center to help the state government in its development works.

Parliamentarian Sunil Kumar Pintu opined that the congested areas need to be freed and the state government should continue the Corridor works. We support the development works being undertaken at Puri.

Archeological Survey of India ADG Alok Tripathy also accompanied the Standing Committee Members to Puri.
