Bhubaneswar: The path and intensity of the probable cyclone will be known only after the formation of the low pressure area, informed the Indian Metrological Department (IMD).
The IMD said that it will necessary forecast regarding its trajectory and pace, once the low pressure forms.
As per the IMD, a cyclonic circulation has formed over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood and extends up to mid-tropospheric levels. A low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region under the influence of the cyclonic circulation system around May 6.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra informed that the State Government is fully prepared to deal with any situation arising out of the probable cyclone even though there is no clear picture about the cyclone as of now.
“The Collectors in the State have been put on alert and we hope to get a clear picture in the next two to three days,” he said.
Earlier today, the IMD has issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ for the 20 districts for the next 24 hours predicting thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nayagarh, Angul, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Sundergarh, the IMD added.
