Puri: The Lord Jagannath and His divine siblings – Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are keeping unwell after Snana Purnima, a ritual bath with 108 pitchers of herbal and aromatic water and retired to the Anasara Ghar (sick room).
A special treatment is underway for the effective healing of the Trinity. As part of the treatment, the phuluri tela seva began today at the Srimandir. The ‘phuluri oil’, a unique herbal oil, will be applied on the bodies of the deities, who are being treated at a secret place on the temple premises.
Besides, the phuluri tela, other medicinal lotions are also applied for the quick recovery of the Trinity. The ingredients used for the preparation of the medicine are natural elements, mainly flowers like ketaki, malli, boula, champa, kia; barks and roots such as benachara, sesame oil, sandalwood powder, camphor, rice grains and others.
After the deities are massaged with this oily lotion every day, it is believed they get cured sooner.
After the 15 days of treatment, the deities would completely recover from the illness a day before Rath Yatra, which is scheduled to be held on June 23 this year.
