PM Modi Condoles Demise of Sonny Mehta, Speaks to Naveen over Phone

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the sad demise of Sonny Mehta, brother-in-law of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. 

The Prime Minister spoke to Naveen over telephone and condoled the death of Sonny Mehta.

The Odisha CM will not celebrate the New Year and has requested his well-wishers not to visit his residence to convey their wishes on New Year Day, as per reports.

Earlier today, condoling the death of Sonny, Naveen said, “I am deeply grieved by the passing away of my brother in law Sonny Mehta (Husband of my sister Gita Mehta). He was one of the world’s best editors and an extremely civilized person. May his soul rest in peace.”

Sonny Mehta, Editor-in-chief of Alfred A Knopf and chairman of the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, passed away at 76.

Writers, editors and personalities from the publishing world grieved the death of Mehta.
