New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highly appreciated the Odisha Government’s cyclone Fani preparedness during his interaction with the members of the Indian community in Japan on Thursday after he arrived in Osaka for the G20 Summit.
The rarest of rare summer cyclone Fani that hit the Odisha coast on May 3 was successfully managed with minimum damage, Modi said.
The Prime Minister said, “Recently, India was able to tackle cyclone Fani and many other obstacles with minimal losses and was able to push them back aside”.
“The world appreciated our damage control efforts; how we made use of government resources, human resources and space technology along with other things to perform efficiently,” Modi said.
Modi praised how the government machinery, human resource and space technology came together to minimise the loss of life.
“All these happened when the country was in the midst of elections. This achievement has inspired us a lot,” he said.
Earlier, Modi during his visit to Odisha lauded the State Government for its massive evacuation drive ahead of cyclone Fani.
Modi accompanied by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik conducted an aerial survey of cyclone-ravaged areas of the State.
