PMAY: BJP’s Criticism Nothing But Damp Squib

Bhubaneswar: It seems that for some of the leaders of Odisha Bharatiya Janata Party, criticizing the State Government on any issue is the only vocation left. Without any facts and figures, they are determined to disapprove the development agenda of the State and keep on hurting the development process. But when the facts prevail over the misleading propaganda, the detractors have no face to show.

The newest example of BJP’s baseless rhetoric that has fall flat is the criticism related to the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the State. The issue has boomeranged and the state BJP leaders are now trying to save their face. While some of the state BJP leaders are demanding clarifications regarding the implementation of the Yojana, the Center on the other hand has awarded the State for successful implementation. Odisha has bagged the second prize for successful implementation of the Yojana in the state.

The Center has also lauded the state government’s efforts to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is remained outside the purview of the scheme. The State Government has been successfully implementing the scheme along with its own Biju Pakka Ghara Yojana in the state.

An interesting fact is that the BJP leaders who are critising the State Government on this issue have neither the backing of the party workers nor the central leadership. For namesake and to keep themselves in the limelight, they are unnecessarily raising the issue. While earlier also some of the party leaders criticized the State Government on this issue, they had to backtrack as they had no support from the higher leadership. Another important thing that has come to light is a number of BJP leaders are involved in the irregularities in implementing the scheme in the state.

As the process of allotment of houses under the scheme is transparent and everything is done openly, there is little space for irregularity on the part of the state government. The panchayats of the respective villages deal with the process of allotment and each and every decision is displayed openly and the state government takes appropriate action if anything goes wrong.

While the state leaders are busy with criticism, the grassroots workers who are associated with panchayat level are against this rhetoric and are against their own leaders. Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party are also silent on the issue as the state government has been applauded nationally.

This has brought shame to the party leaders who don’t have any facts but the only agenda is to criticize the government. the Biju Janata Dal on the other hand has got a valid weapon as it has been giving the example of central praise for the state government.
