Police Outpost to Be Established at Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bus Terminal

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced that a police outpost will be established at the Dr. Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bus Terminal in Bhubaneswar.

As many as 89 police officers will be recruited to the outpost.

It is worth noting that the construction of this interstate bus terminal under the 5T initiative has reached its final stage. It will be launched soon.

Around 700 to 800 buses will run from here daily. The number of buses may increase from 1700 to 1800 in the future. It is estimated that about 35,000 to 45,000 passengers will arrive and leave the bus stand every day, according to an official release.

During the 5T Chairman Kartik Pandian’s visits to the under-construction terminal on various occasions to review its progress along with officials and local people, a proposal for setting up a police outpost here for the safety and convenience of the passengers came up. After the 5T Chairman discussed the issue with the Chief Minister, the latter decided setting up a police outpost here.

The terminal will have a restaurant for passengers, ample car parking space, a food center, pick-up and drop-off facilities for passengers, 144 bus bays, bus bays for city buses, and supermarkets. Therefore, the importance of the security system here is very high.

A total of 89 police personnel will be recruited for posting at this outpost. Out of this, there will be 2 sub-inspectors, 9 assistant sub-inspectors, 4 habildars, 72 constables, and 2 drivers, the press release stated.
