Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal today organized a peaceful mass protest in front of the State Election Commissioner’s office demanding strong action against BJP leaders, workers and supporters who are indulging in violence during the Panchayat polls in the state.
The party also handed over a memorandum to the SEC in this regard.
In its memorandum, the BJD has said that the BJP is indulging in violent acts in order to create terror among the voters and is also violating the Model Code of Conduct in the state.
The leaders of the BJP and its workers are attacking general public, police, polling personnel and journalists. In the last one month, there have been many instances of violation of Model Code of Conduct by the BJP.
Though the BJD has brought the issues to the knowledge of the State Election Commission regarding these matters, there have been no action taken and the BJP is still continuing such acts, the ruling party said.
