Gopalpur: The people of Gopalpur Assembly Constituency from where Pradeep Panigrahi is representing in the House have welcomed the BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik’s step to expel the MLA from the party for anti-people activities.
Setting an example, ruling Biju Janata Dal President Naveen Patnaik today expelled sitting the MLA Pradeep Panigrahi from party for his anti- people activities.
Haling the decision of Naveen Patnaik, a resident of Gopalpur town, Shankar Reddy said, the MLA deserved such treatment from Naveen as he never bothered for the development of the area.
The MLA has duped many innocent people on the pretext of giving jobs. The BJD has done the right thing by expelling such a leader, said L. Laxman Patra from Nimakhandi area.
Though, he (Pradeep Panigrahi) is a MLA for the third time, many people alleged that he is never in touch with the people at the grassroots level.
He never allowed us to air our grievances and never resolved our basic problems, said Ritesh Maharana, a resident of Gopalpur NAC.
It may be noted that Pradeep Panigrahi’s daughter was scheduled to tie the knot with the arrested son of tainted IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak.
Since Panigrahi is people’s representative, he must be answerable to the people about his relationship with the tainted IFS officer. The BJD chief has taken the good decision by removing the Gopalpur MLA from the party said a political observer, who did not want to be named.
Expressing similar views, a resident of Kanishi area near Berhampur, Ramhari Rout said, the expelled leader has involved in many fraudulent activities. He has also alleged links with liquor traders.
Expelled BJD MLA Pradeep Panigrahi says Akash Pathak was ITER student and was working in Romania. He returned Odisha to look after his ailing mother. He was selected for Tata Group and allowed to travel by charter flights by the company.
