New Delhi: Pramila Bisoyi, a shining example of Odisha’s commitment to women empowerment, today took oath as the member of the 17th Lok Sabha.
Bisoyi, who won the elections from Aska parliamentary constituency in Odisha’s Ganjam district as a Biju Janata Dal candidate, took the oath in Odia in the presence of other newly elected members.
The BJD MP was applauded by the members of the House as Pro-tem Speaker Virendra Kumar administered the oath to her.
Bisoyi, a grass root-level worker and a member of Sata Sankha SHG of Nalabanta in Ganjam district, is an embodiment of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s women empowerment initiative.
“Smt Pramila Bisoi is a shining example of Odisha’s commitment to women empowerment. She symbolizes our efforts to transform lives of grassroot women through Mission Shakti and will be a voice of lakhs of women in Parliament”, the Odisha CM tweeted.
