Pramodini Roul Acid Attack Case: Prime Accused Sentenced 14 Years RI

Jagatsinghpur: A local court here today awarded 14 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to the prime accused in the 2009 Pramodini Roul acid attack case.

While hearing the case, the Jagatsinghpur Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Women’s Court sentenced 14 years of rigorous imprisonment to the two accused including the prime accused Santosh Bedanta.

Other accused has been identified as Anil Dalasinghray.

The ASJ Women’s Court Jagatsinghpur found Santosh and Anil guilty in the case and pronounced the verdict.
The court has also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on them.

On May 4, 2009Santosh Kumar Bedanta, a paramilitary jawan, threw acid on Pramodini’s face after she rejected his marriage proposal. She suffered 80 percent burns and later lost her vision. She was in ICU for around nine months and spent a painful life for five years in hospitals in Cuttack, according to reports.
