Chatrapur: Pratishtha Mahotsav of new temple of Maa Taratarini, the presiding deity of Ganjam district, began with great enthusiasm and religious fervor from today.
The celebrations will continue till May 20 at the Adi Shakti Peetha at Kumari hills on the bank of River Rushikulya near Purushottampur.
During the six- day long Mahotsav, various rituals of Maa Taratarini will be performed, informed the temple authorities.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will attend the Pratistha Mahotsav at the famous hill-top shrine on May 18.
The Ganjam administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Mahotsav.
The Taratarini temple, which is one of the famous ancient Shakti Peethas in the country, has undergone massive transformation with the implementation of the redevelopment plan with the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Under the development plan, renovation of Singhadwar entrance with pilgrim amenities, pathway with drinking water facilities, interpretation centre, mundan hall and public toilet besides renovation of hilltop temple premises along with Prasad sevan mandap were carried out to further glorify the significance of the hill-top shrine
