President Murmu Lays Foundation Stone of Skill Hub at Pahadpur

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a skill hub at Pahadpur in Mayurbhanj district in Odisha.

President Murmu, who arrived in Mayurbhanj district on a three-day official visit, laid the foundation stone of skill training hub at her hometown Pahadpur. The project aims to train underprivileged youth and provide them livelihood support in a sustainable manner.

L&T has partnered with SLS Trust to establish the Skill Training Hub on five acres land for providing underprivileged youth from the region training in construction skills, and in turn, make them self-reliant.

The skill hub will encompass an administrative-cum-institute building, multipurpose hall, e-learning hall, digital training room, separate hostels of 120 each for boys and girls, dining halls, four practice yards for masonry, bar bending, plumbing and scaffolding trades, and a dedicated workshop for practicing pipe welding, as per reports.

The President also visited Brahma Kumaris Centre, Hatbadra, Satapautia, where she launched the Addiction Free Odisha campaign.

Earlier this morning, the President landed at Badampahar helipad in Mayurbhanj district from Kalaikunda Airport in West Bengal where she was welcomed by Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu and State Minister Prafulla Mallik.

Soon after landing at the helipad, Murmu visited her in-laws’ village Pahadpur, where she laid a garland at the statue of her husband late Shyam Charan Murmu.

On Friday, she is scheduled to visit her Rairangpur residence and spend about 20 minutes in the holiday home. From there, the President is expected to visit Pandit Raghunath Murmu’s village Dandbosh and later to the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) and spend the night at Baripada.

The President is scheduled to attend convocation of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo (MSCB) University, Baripada on Saturday. This is the first visit of Murmu to her home district after assuming office of the President.

In view of the maiden visit of the President to her hometown, tight security arrangements have been made in Mayurbhanj district. About 50 platoons of police force have been deployed at different locations.
