Puri: Puri Kumbharapada Police has arrested the main accused in the gang rape of a minor and detained three others involved in the case. The incident came to light late in the evening after the girl filed a complaint at thepolice station. She was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped in a police quarter in Odisha’s Puri district.
The victim, who is from the Kakatpur area, alleged that the accused, who identified himself as a cop, offered her lift in his car while she was waiting at a bus stand in Nimapara town. There were three others also inside the car.
Instead of taking her towards Kakatpur, the miscreants took her to Puri town. Later, they took her inside a house where two men raped her while the other two left the house locking the door behind, the victim said. The victim had grabbed the wallet of the accused and escape the place which helped the police to identify him and take immediate action.
After investigation, a dismissed Police constable named Jitendra Sethy has been arrested as the main culprit in this case and three others have been detained.
On the basis of the statement of the accused, police have identified the house, a government quarter in Police Colony near Jhadeswari Temple, he said.
