Puri: Few days after the Revenue Department issued a notification for a survey to acquire land within 75-metre radius of Shree Jagannath Temple here for beautification of the shrine surroundings and enhancement of security measures, a social impact assessment (SIA) survey began on Monday.
Five teams headed by five IAS officers are conducting the survey.
According to a Revenue Department notification, the social impact assessment (SIA) survey would be conducted for the land acquisition as per Section 4 of Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
The Puri administration will acquire 12.5445 acre private land and 2.6465 acre Government land at Baselisahi, Manikarnika Sahi, Kalikadevi Sahi, Dolamandap Sahi and Chudanga Sahi in the pilgrim city here.
Notably, the administration has been carrying out an eviction drive within the 75-metre radius from the Meghanada Pacheri (Boundary wall) of the 12th century shrine.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik earlier this month appointed five IAS probationers – Suryavanshi Mayur Vikash, Kirtivasan V, Dr Subhankar Mohapatra, J Sonal and Bhubanesh Devdas Patil – to help the Odisha Government realise its dream of developing Puri into a world class heritage city.
