Puri Srimandir to Become Complete Plastic Free from April 1

Puri: Puri Srimandir is going to be completely plastic-free from April 1 this year. It has been decided at the Chhattisa Nijog, (federation of servitor bodies of Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri) meeting held today.

Any person found chewing paan (betel leaves) and tobacco products, such as gutkha inside the premises of the Jagannath temple will be fined Rs 500, the Chhattisa Nijog announced.

At the meeting, the Chhattisa Nijog has also discussed the programmes for the Mendha Podi and Dola Purnima rituals of the Lord Jagannath and His Siblings to be held on March 9.

Chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Krishan Kumar, Puri Collector Balwant Singh, SP Umashankar Dash and other offcials were present at the meeting.
